Sumary: The paper is focused on current trends of research of superconducting HTS materials in the context of application in electrical devices. Basic properties of superconducting materials like dependence of critical current on temperature and magnetic field and phenomenon of flux trapping used in levitation systems and as a permanent magnets, determining possibility of its application in such devices have been discussed. Current status of development of machines and devices containing superconductors has been presented.
