Development of a synthetic neuron system based on nanomaterials
Summary: This paper presents the results of a student project realized under the Project-Based Learning (PBL) funding scheme within the "Excellence Initiative – Research University" program. The project focused on developing a research setup for electrical measurements of memristive devices. The semiconductor systems were fabricated based on nanomaterials from the chalcohalide group (including bismuth sulfoiodide (BiSI)). The main objective was to automate a measurement setup consisting of a function generator and a multimeter. To this end, software was developed to communicate with the laboratory equipment, enabling automated measurements of samples and experiment scheduling to test a wide range of excitation pulses. Subsequently, measurements were performed on actual samples to investigate their electrical properties.
